Why go and buy a bottled stuff, when you can make a heavenly homemade BBQ sauce in under five minutes? It tastes AMAZING, and on top of it all, there are no added sugars, gums or any other additive. If you would ever have to choose one thing to switch from buying to making at home than I would recommend this recipe since it’s sooo DELICIOUS!
I came up with this recipe while Vesely and I were doing the Whole30 challenge in June. I was looking for a way to make us a barbecue that will be compliant and also taste amazing. There were a lot of recipes across Pinterest but they were mostly using Medjool dates for sweetness.
Don’t get me wrong, I really like Medjool dates, since they are a life-savior when you’re on the whole30. But for my taste, when it comes to savory dishes, they are a bit too sweet.
I wanted my homemade bbq sauce to be sweet and sour. I also wanted it to be able to give me that lovely caramelization on top of grilled meat. And on top of that, I wanted it to be made in under five minutes, without having extra dishes to wash.
And, ladies and gentlemen, here is the final product! I represent to you my simple homemade BBQ sauce made with apple cider syrup. It is sweet, it is sticky, and it has a smoky flavor, that we all love!
You can say by a certain number of recipes that I’ve already shared (go ahead and look for them on the website) that I absolutely LOVE apple cider syrup (aka. boiled cider syrup). In this recipe, it will give you everything you need to make a PERFECT homemade BBQ sauce.
It is very simple to make. All you have to do is mix apple cider syrup with some tomato paste, balsamic vinegar, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. That’s all! Just one little bowl (or a jar, so it’s ready for storing straight away), and no extra dishes to wash. This is very important for me since Vesely and I live in a small house, and we don’t have space to place the dishwasher. All of the dishes are hand-washed by me. So, if I can spare myself of washing anything extra, I will try and find a way to do it, and share all of my tips with you 🙂
Now I’m going to make another batch of my homemade BBQ sauce. Vesely asked to always have it in the fridge. Not just for barbecues, but also to put on sandwiches, in wraps, on eggs, and on top of everything else, haha!

2. Use this sauce to prepare all of your favorite BBQ dishes. I love it with chicken wings or baby back ribs. YUM! Those two are my favorite.
